Medical Consultation Overview
Samkkya Wellness Center is pleased to offer integrated medical consultations by Dr. Shashi, M.D. (Ayurveda) and Dr Noorul Ameen B.N.Y.S (Naturopathy & Yogic Science). These consultations address a person’s health concerns from a physical, emotional and spiritual perspective. Integrating the theoretical frameworks of Ayurveda and modern science of Naturopathy.

During a typical evaluation, the doctor takes a complete medical and lifestyle history and performs a physical examination that looks at the body both as a physical system as well as a field of intelligence, reflecting the needs and choices of a person’s life. Based upon this assessment, a personalized body/mind/spirit health-enhancing prescription is formulated, including recommendations on diet, stress management, exercise, emotional healing, nutritional and herbal supplements, and sensory modulation. If indicated, appropriate laboratory testing or specialty consultation is suggested.

If you are facing a condition that you believe can be influenced by your perceptions, interpretations or lifestyle choices, an integrated medical consultation can help you become an active, empowered partner in your healing process.

Ayurveda Consultation
Each individual is born with a pre-determined basic pattern and the Tridoshas and character-type are part of this pattern. The balance is finely tuned and the equilibrium is easily disturbed. This is called the persons Prakriti. The imbalanced or overbalanced condition of these systems, in any part of the body, causes ill-health which manifests as the symptoms of disease. It is the purpose of the consultation to determine what constitution you are and in what way you can be helped to a finer state of health.
An initial consultation normally takes about an hour and involves a thorough questioning of your medical history, family history, present conditions or concerns, current medications or herbs, using Ayurvedic diagnostics (including observation, palpation, pulse, tongue, face, nails, and voice). After determining your prakruti (constitution) and vikruti (state of imbalance), appropriate nutrition, lifestyle and various ayurvedic treatments may be recommended to you. All these findings will be discussed with you in as much detail as possible.
Ayurvedic practitioners believe that man does not need medicine if the diet is right and it is not medicine that is needed if the diet is wrong!

Naturopathy Consultation
An initial consultation with a naturopath normally takes about an hour. During this time the naturopath will ask questions about the person’s condition, medical history, diet and lifestyle, and any conventional treatments that they may be taking. The consulting naturopath may then use Iridology (iris diagnosis), or tongue and nail diagnosis to get a better picture of the complete health state of the client. If needed, pathology testing such as hair, stool, or blood analysis may be recommended.

Once all of the information is gathered, a treatment plan is formulated that addresses all areas of the person’s life, providing the body with the optimum chance to heal itself. The treatment plan may include advice on diet, lifestyle, exercise, herbal medicine, massage therapy, homeopathic remedies, or other suitable remedies.
